A.1 - Computer-based tests

Administration

For the computer-based tests, there should be at least one member of staff who can:

  • install the tests, download files and ensure they are working
  • supervise the test session
  • collect and upload electronic files containing students' answers (student response files)
  • deal with potential technical difficulties

Marking

The computer-based tests will be marked automatically electronically.

A.2 - Paper-based tests

Administration

The paper-based tests require standard test invigilation. Administration instructions are supplied free-of-charge.

Marking

This year the marking system for World Class Tests has changed. We will be asking test administrators to mark the students’ paper-based tests with the help of user-friendly mark schemes that we will supply free-of-charge. It is hoped this process will enrich the information administrators feed back to students regarding their ‘world class’ performance.

Administrators will be required to enter the students’ paper-based scores into the computer system. A total score and a grade will be calculated electronically for each of the students.

A.3 - Certification

This year administrators will be able to certificate their own World Class Test students. Administrators will be given a password which will allow them access to an area on the website where they can enter student details including the grade - pass, merit or distinction - achieved on World Class Tests. Administrators will then be able to print off the certificate.

This new system, together with the new marking system, will dramatically reduce the time it takes for students to receive their World Class Test results and certification.
